Two Unforgettable Southern Oregon Coast Getaways

You know I love the Oregon Coast. If you too love dramatic cliffs, hidden beaches, and cozy coastal towns, the Southern Oregon Coast delivers it all. This region is full of small-town charm, incredible food, and unforgettable places to stay.

Here are two of my favorite recent trips (well, recent-ish - you know I can’t keep up with the blog): a romantic anniversary escape at the Heartland Treehouse in Langlois and a spontaneous day trip to Cape Blanco and Bandon that’s perfect for anyone craving ocean air and adventure.

Anniversary Getaway: Treehouse Magic & Coastal Dining

For our 6th wedding anniversary, we headed to Langlois, a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it town that’s home to one of the most magical stays on the coast: the Heartland Treehouse. Perched high among the evergreens, it feels like stepping into a fairytale. The space is cozy and whimsical, filled with warm wood, twinkle lights, and windows framing the forest canopy — a peaceful hideaway that’s pure romance. We spent hours soaking in the outdoor bathtubs, sharing a favorite bottle of wine as we listened to the rush of the creek below. It is a magical place to reconnect with your person without distractions.

We spent our Saturday exploring Floras Lake, one of the coast’s most serene and scenic spots. The trail skirts the lake before climbing into the dunes, opening to breathtaking views of the Pacific. We spent the day wandering the beach, watching kiteboarders on the lake, and soaking in the endless horizon. Once we were past the lake and on the beach, we hardly saw another soul. This also happens to be a great spot to hunt for agates.

You know we ate some delicious meals, as well. After our hike, we continued south to the tiny town of Port Orford. Our Treehouse host also worked at Port Orford Sustainable Seafood and recommended that we stop by the onsite pop-up restaurant, The Galley. We are so glad we did. This spot serves some of the best and most innovative seafood we’ve had. Think black cod miso bowls and fresh catch katsu. If you’re local they also offer an annual Community Supported Fishery for locally caught seafood from small and family run operations (they have a regular Roseburg delivery). That evening, an anniversary dinner at Alloro Wine Bar was a highlight: a warm, intimate space with a carefully curated wine list and dishes that celebrate local ingredients. Oregon’s coast has so many hidden culinary gems.

It was the perfect weekend getaway to celebrate our anniversary.

Day Trip: Cape Blanco, Bandon, and Coastal Treats

A regular favorite day trip takes us to Cape Blanco, Oregon’s westernmost point and one of its most striking. To have the perfect day, pick up picnic supplies from Face Rock Creamery — think sharp cheddar, local salami, and a great bottle of wine — and hike first along the beach and then, after a short climb, along the bluff trail that winds above the crashing surf. This is a practically perfect 4—mile hike with some of the best views in Oregon.

After our hike, we drove back to Bandon, a classic coastal town that’s equal parts charming and lively. We wandered through the Old Town shops — a mix of art galleries, boutiques, and nautical curiosities — before capping the day with a casual dinner at Bandon Fish and Chips. Fresh halibut, crispy fries, and harbor views made for the perfect meal to a perfect day. The smoked salmon chowder here is the absolute best. To end the day on a sweet note, we made another stop by Face Rock Creamery for Umpqua Dairy ice cream.

Why the Southern Coast Steals My Heart

What I love most about this stretch of Oregon is how effortlessly it blends wild beauty with small-town soul. Whether you’re celebrating something special or just chasing sea air for the day, places like Langlois, Port Orford, and Bandon remind you that adventure doesn’t have to be far from home — it just needs a little curiosity and a good appetite.
